Procedures in place for collaborating with families and professionals to promote the well-being of all students. Provide one example of how you will purposefully partner with families and one example of how you will collaborate with other professionals.

There are several procedures in place for collaborating with families and professionals to promote the well-being of all students. The first is to ensure that frequent communication is established. Frequent communication can be in the form of sending home weekly newsletters, having parent-teacher conferences, sending emails, and even having phone calls. It is important to keep in mind that some families do not have access to technology, such as those with a low socioeconomic status, so it is essential to ensure that various forms of communication are implemented or available. The second is making sure both families and professionals are contributing to making decisions that influence students’ holistic development. Many students may not have knowledge of educational terms used, such as early intervention (EI), individualized education program (IEP), and free appropriate public education (FAPE). One example of how I will purposely partner with families is ensuring shared or common goals are addressed for a child’s growth. Some shared or common goals can be “In one year, the student will eat with a fork correctly two out of three times” and “In six months, the student will walk on a balance beam for five seconds.” On the other hand, one example of how I will collaborate with other professionals is participating in meetings to make sure I am up to date with the development of all students.
